"In New York,
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of,
There's nothing you can't do,
Now you're in New York,
These streets will make you feel brand new,
Big lights will inspire you,
Lets hear it for New York, New York, New York
Welcome to the bright light..."
-Jay Z/Alicia Keys "Empire State Of Mind"

It's NARS Cosmetics 15th anniversary and for the special occasion Francois Nars will be making an appearance at Saks in NYC on Oct 8th. He will be signing copies of his two wildly successful books "X-Ray" (1999) and "Makeup Your Mind" (2001). I personally LOVED both books, they are basically my bibles. He will also be signing sets of his "NARS Loves New York" which will also be available at counters. The set consists of 4 products Francois Nars himself picked specifically for the women of NYC from product archives and re-named after iconic names from the City of New York. I cannot wait to get mine...

Lovers forever... face to face
My city or mountains
Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
I need you to stay
Give to me your leather
Take from me... my lace
Take from me... my lace
Take from me... my lace
-Stevie Nicks "Leather and Lace"

A hot new nail trend is gaining momentum. Quickly. And I love it. "Lace Nails". Yup, I said Lace. I spotted them a few weeks back and adored them. They were slowly but surely trending... Then Jennifer Lopez wore them to the VMAs and now everyone is buzzin about them. It's a divide. People either love them or hate them. I personally love them and plan having my own lace nails by the end of the week. I've seen many photos and came up with two ways to wear them best.

You can do this at home yourself but I would recommend having it done by a nail professional. That's just my opinion...

My suggestions for "Lace Nails":

Long Nails: Have the lace applied at the tip, like a "Lace French Manicure". Covering the entire nail would be too much.

Short Nails: If your nails are very short, apply the lace or have it applied over the whole nail. Black lace looks like fabulous over bare nails but also looks hot over nails painted hot pink or red.

Some photos of the lace nail trend/frenzy:

Love it...

Evolution of a Quilter -Virtual Tour of Exhibit 4

The Mutton Conductors

My favorite part of this quilt is the dogs, also known in the sheep industry as “Mutton Conductors.”

I liked this quilt enough to make two of them.

The original quilt was auctioned on behalf of the Oregon Sheep Breeders Association.

It now hangs in the Coos County Extension Office as a piece of Agricultural Art.

In keeping with the theme of this exhibit "Evolution of a Quilter" the next quilt is one I completed this year. It is a far contrast from the sheep quilt above.

Pepper Dish

45 x 45 inches

Created in a Judy Neimeyer class in Idaho in 2006.

If you look closely, you can see where Judy signed it.

The bright colors in this quilt appeal to me.

I enjoyed collecting all the different batik fabrics.

My favorite process was the machine quilting.

"A work of art is above all an adventure of the mind." -Eugene Ionesco

When I grow up I wanna be...Sylvia Dell’ Orto. Who? Yes, that's the usual response and I really don't understand why. Kevyn Aucoin (RIP), Dick Page, Pat McGrath, Troy Jensen, Scott Barnes, all phenomenal artists and all recognizable names. However even though Sylvia Dell’ Orto maybe one the most talented makeup artist I have ever seen or will ever see, very few people know who I'm speaking of when I mention my admiration for her. It's time I introduce you to one of my few idols...

Have a look at some of Sylvia Dell’ Orto's best work:

Astounding. Extraordinary. Uber-Talented. Utterly Amazing...Sylvia Dell’ Orto.

~Eva Longoria Looks Fab But She's Giving Me Deja Vu~

Deja Vu (dé·jà vu )
1. Psychology The illusion of having already experienced something actually being experienced for the first time.
2.
A)An impression of having seen or experienced something before
B)Dull familiarity; monotony

Eva Longoria is featured in
Citizen K Magazine sporting a very different look than we're used to from Eva. And as much as I like it on her, I can't help but have a deja vu... The look is remarkably familiar to the shoot Kim Kardashian did for YRB Magazine... I love that Eva tried something new, I just wish she also tried something original...

Have a look:

And now look at Kim's shoot for
YRB... And yes, Kim's came out first.
