Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson, 1850

Riri and La Lopez may have been thousands of miles apart, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates and NYC respectively, but they both kicked off 2010 in true Glamour Whore form...giving bad ass performances and looking utterly glam while doing so. I appreciate that, I thank them for starting my new year right...by giving me something to talk about.

Uber-diva Jennifer Lopez performed in Times Square, the heart of her home town and as usual the glamour factor was off the charts... Auld Lang Syne bitchesssss.

Mz.Rihanna rang in her New Year rocking the stage in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates ... What do 2009 and 2010 have in common? Riri was a bad bitch in 2009 and she's a bad bitch in 2010. Kul 'am wa antum bikhair!! <~Happy New Year in Arabic.

Know what else hasn't changed in 2010?
Just Jared is still providing great photos...

As the year draws to a close, people use many different ways to say goodbye to 2009... Some reminisce over events of the past, nostalgically recalling people, places, and really killer parties. Others, like myself, prepare by dreaming big and getting excited for the future. Speaking of which, I am so thrilled to start the new year as co-editor of the Glamarazzi!
Iggi and Keedah have graciously allowed me to jump into rotation on their project, and I'm excited to read some amazing posts! Also in the spirit of newness, please welcome the latest addition to the glamily, Adina from KraseyBeauty. Her blog is fantastic, and I'm sure we'll continue to see amazing posts from her! Welcome Adina!

And as always, new members are always welcome. If you would like to be involved in the "Glamarazzi" get the details
here.

Happy New Year everyone! Be safe, be smart, and be fab....like I have to tell you!

I love lace... Well, when done correctly, there is NOTHING worse than cheap, tacky gaudy looking lace. However, when done correctly, I simply love it... And not just in the form of clothing...

And I almost forgot the very beautiful Armani Code... Thanx Danielle xoxo

TK # 43 - Jesse Malin - The Fine Art of Self Destruction (2003)

A small record with a thin voice and a big heart, The Fine Art of Self Destruction bridges the gap from glam-punk to alt-country power pop with the best weapon of all – an album full of top notch songs. This album oozes New York, as Malin brings that high and lonesome sound to the five boroughs, tracing a lost love who “liked Tom Waits and the poet’s hat / Sixties Kinks and Kerouac” in the anthemic “Wendy” and tracing lost youth in the unsentimental lament “Almost Grown”.

Cow Pony Rust Quilt....Machine Quilting

A good thread stash is JUST as important as a good fabric stash!
Repeat that out loud 3 more times...

Thread Stitch Outs 1 of 2

I put together 2 sample sandwiches from leftover rust fabric, batting and backing fabric. When auditioning threads, I know exactly what they will look like on the actual quilt.....no guessing games.

The two brown variegated threads on the left did not appeal to me at all. Even tho very subtle color change, it was enough to be distracting.
I like the orange Mettler polysheen in the center.
I like the 24K Gold thread too.
The far right is gold metallic and it did not stitch well into the rust fabric.

Thread Stitch Outs 2 of 2

The first stitch outs were so flat looking, so I decided to double up on the batting in this sample sandwich.......much better. The stitching is so much more defined and puffy.

The brown Mettler in the center was too dark. I was afraid it would distract from the rusting motifs.
Again, I was pleased with the 25K Gold and the Orange threads.

The 24K Gold Rayon was so yummy quilted into the double layer of batting.
It won the audition!

Finally.....I can begin putting the frosting on the cake...

At this point, I am still uncertain about a final border treatment.
I am leaving an extra 5 or 6 inches of batting and backing fabric just in case I want to add one more border to this quilt top later on.

Big, well defined 24K Gold Feathers

The feathers are big and beautiful, but do not fight for attention with the rusting motifs. They are working harmoniously with the rest of the quilt design.
Just what I was hoping for...
I guess all those hours of auditioning and stitching out thread samples worked.

Cross Hatching all chalked out in the background.
I love Miracle Chalk. It stays on until you iron it off.

5pm......time to quit......not that I want to.
I have dinner company coming shortly and I need to get in the kitchen and rattle those pots and pans!

The grid work will have to wait for tomorrow...

May Your Bobbin Always Be Full,
LuAnn

-"If We Ever Meet Again" Timbaland Featuring Katy Perry

Katy Perry and Timbaland filmed the video for their single "If We Ever Meet Again" from Timbaland's upcoming CD "Shock Value II" and she looks...FABULOUS!! I am impressed with her fashion evolution... In the past, the girl's style was detrimental to my health... literally. I once got a mind-numbing headache after my eyes caught sight of her on stage, had me driving to the 24hr deli desperate for Advil. Lately though she seems to be on point in the fashion/beauty department and my eyes thank her...

And as usual...sending tons of love to Just Jared for always providing the best photos!! xoxo

~The "Jersey Shore" Cast Gets A Makeover... Ummm...I Guess~

"My personal style is fresh to death. Have you ever been to the supermarket? You know the produce section, like where the food is fresh? That's my style."
-Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio
-"Life & Style"

Wow. I always thought Paris, Milan, and New York City were the style meccas. I'm sorry. Apparently I owe Pathmark some press. I will totally cover the runway show in Aisle 6 this spring, I promise. I just hope I'm "fresh to death" enough to get a front row seat...

Ok, enough. I am now going to retract my claws and do what I'm here to do... I'm not even sure of what that is right now... Apparently, hell has frozen over and I'm actually writing about the disaster that is "The Jersey Shore".... Here goes.

Life and Style magazine has done the impossible and made-over the cast of The Jersey Shore . Rendering them fashionable enough for one of NYC's hottest clubs, Greenhouse. And although it's a VAST improvement, the article itself smells of the deli section...a wee bit cheesy. What they basically did was dress each cast member up as a current media darling. I'm not "J Wowwed" by it, but it is an improvement.

TK #44: Sloan – Never Hear the End of It (2006)

It takes a set of stones to even try to pull off a near-seamless suite of thirty songs in seventy-eight minutes, but to pull it off with such utter conviction and perfect execution is a towering achievement. The veteran Canadian power-poppers aren’t cowed by the influence of the Beatles; instead, they take Abbey Road as an idea to be expanded on. This silver disc is chock-a-block with ideas the way Manhattan is packed with tall buildings, each gleaming in the light and casting their own long shadows.

FYI: The word "Turban" comes from one of many variations on the word tulip, alluding to the designs which can be created by wrapping the cloth.

I have turbans on the brain... Seriously. I'm having visions of rocking a diamond studded turban while enjoying my dirty martini, very old Hollywood... Or sporting a white one with a bandeau bikini while frolicking on the beach... Or just donning one simply to jazz up my usual uniform of a wife beater and form fitting jeans. I have long been fascinated by and drawn to these beautiful and stylish headdresses...
