Portrait Class......Altering Images

We just returned from a road trip to
Yakima, Washington

This is the view when we pulled down the driveway:

The Iris are blooming !

Suzy was glad to be home too !

The Lupine are blooming !

These Iris Blooms will be perfect images
for the Portrait Class later this month...

The evening sunshine enhances the iris petals

I need to alter these Iris images in Photoshop
and print them on fabric for the students...

While we were gone I spent a few days watching this
Killdeer Bird:

She is a beauty...

She is so protective of her nest full of eggs...

Here she is keeping her eggs warm...

Look closely...
She is nesting in the gravel just outside my sister's house.
She blends in so well.

Combine
This old piece of farm equipment has literally been put out to pasture

I had a fun time visiting my sister. We spent a couple of days in her sewing room. I made lots of progress piecing my Double Wedding Ring Quit......I was too busy taking photos of the Killdeer bird that I forgot to take pictures of the quilt.

Happy Days...

Here in Western Oregon we are celebrating
the arrival of SPRING...

The swallows have returned,
so we put out the bird house in the flowerbed

The birds are busy setting up housekeeping

Another sign of SPRING...

Looks like it snowed!

Let's check on the seedlings...

They were planted a few weeks ago...

The State Fair Zinnia seedlings
have tripled in size in one week

is greening up nicely

Right next door to the Thread Shed
is the Hen House:

With the sunny Spring days, the hens are spending
more time outside in their yard.

Everyone in the yard is so happy it is finally...

A day at the Coast

The Oregon Coast

The Oregon Coast was the place to be this week!

We are fortunate...
Just a one hour drive to reach the ocean.

The sun was shining and just a breeze off the ocean waves.

The sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean...
so relaxing.

Sometimes you need to stop the world...
and get off for a few hours.

The gorgeous colors,
the crashing waves,
the sun on my face....

It energizes you!

A change of scenery can do you good !

It's just what we needed.

This fellow definitely inspires me...

Please feel free to use him in your personal art work.
He is downloaded at a high resolution.

Life through a Lense # 7

New Brighton-Martin Parr 1985

Martin Parr captures the British like no other photographer. His images capture the feeling of the mass produced seaside postcard in colour and tone but tell a story. For those unfamiliar with his work I would recommend rolling up your trouser leg and dipping your toe in

Snow Day.....2011

Remember as a child when you woke up in the morning
to find out school had been cancelled...

because of a SNOW DAY !

Welcome to My World:

7 am I stepped out the back door
and this is what I saw...

Little Snow Cakes on top of the fence posts!

Across the river the Cow Barns are covered in Snow

Gunnr was more than happy to join me outdoors:

He is staring over at the barn...

Gunnr is letting me know that he sees...

a yearling calf taking shelter in one of the horse stalls

This little yellow building is...
The happiest place on earth...
The Thread Shed

All of my quilted textiles are born in this building

Yes, I am a Jersey Girl Originally...
I have lived in Oregon for 30 years

Just outside the Thread Shed
Growing on the Arbor

These tiny little buds are braving the snow...

This is the corral fence just behind the Thread Shed.
The livestock are good company while I sew.

The corral fence makes a good perch for the birds.

Luckily these little apple trees
haven't bloomed yet...

This is pretty much the tour around the yard...
I am heading back in to make some breakfast...

Gunnr and Suzy are ready to go back inside too !

After breakfast we are moving cattle...

I will post more images of the cattle drive when we get back!
