The other day I wrote a post about Nike's World Basketball Festival and the 5 pairs of limited edition Air Force 1's they were releasing to promote the event. Each borough of NYC was paid homage in the form of a AF1. Given my immense love for both NYC and AF1's I was excited to write ~I'm Just Gonna Do It...5 Times~ What I'm about to tell you about now has me beyond excited... I literally feel dirty.

Mr.Shawn Carter, an impeccable man of style, has once again lent his midas touch... He's about to turn a pair of kicks into great fortune for people in need seeking an education. I love this man...

The first night of the World Basketball Festival (Thursday Aug 12th) included not only a preview of the USA Basketball team for 2010 but also a performance from Hov himself. Good Christ, sneakers, athletes, music and HOV?! I would have had a pleasure induced aneurysm... Again, I feel dirty.

I'm sure his performance was beyond stellar but his real contribution began in the morning as a auction kicked off on ebAy. The goods? 5 pairs of limited edition Nike/Hov AF1's christened "All Black Everything", each pair representing one of the 5 countries participating in the event. France, Brazil, Puerto Rico, USA and China to be exact. Each pair is...you guessed it...all black. However that doesn't mean they are all the same, each pair is unique and made from a different material.

ALL of the proceeds go to The Shawn Carter Foundation, a very very good cause...higher education.

And you guessed it... I want all 5.

When my favorite photographer James Johnson launched his "Shoot For Breast Cancer" promotion my first reaction was intense pride. I was so proud of JJ for remembering to give back and trying to raise funds and awareness in a fun creative way. I am especially touched by the fact that being a good man raised by a single mom he picked a disease that predominantly attacks women. I am so very proud of and amazed by my boy wonder James Johnson.

That being said, I couldn't see not supporting this project and promoting it to the best of my ability. Meaning...I had to put my tatas out there. Oh. My. Damn. You wouldn't think that an opinionated dominant woman like myself would be...shy. You're right. I'm not. However, I have to say the thought of posing for this particular shoot was a bit intimidating... BUT, after being raised by a single father because cancer stole my mother a week before my 5th birthday and having a dear aunt that is a breast cancer survivor I couldn't not do it. Besides, I figured I could have fun with it... I'm always down to wear a new tiara and my tutu was just sitting around collecting dust so... It was a go, I scheduled my shoot.

The promotion is as follows:
A photo shoot with
professional photographer James Johnson. No shirt. Cover your tatas any way you feel comfortable and all other clothes/accessories are of your choosing (and your own, no wardrobe provided). You will receive 3 retouched pictures with the "Shoot For Breast Cancer" logo applied. The shoot and the 3 re-touched pix are provided for a ridiculously low $50 donation, ALL of which is donated to breast cancer research. ALL OF IT!! JJ literally doesn't make a dime off of this project, it's pure charity. And it's pure fun!! I had the best time... For all of the info and to book a shoot please go to the "Shoot For Breast Cancer" Facebook Page

Now...the "Fendi Sisters" (Yes, that's what I call them, I am made of fine Italian couture!!) make their debut....*gulp*

~22 "Ways To Say Black" And I Would Like To Be Fluent In Every One Of Them~

"Without black, no color has any depth. But if you mix black with everything, suddenly there's shadow - no, not just shadow, but fullness. You've got to be willing to mix black into your palette if you want to create something that's real." -Amy Grant

CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements commissioned 22 designers about a year ago and asked them to design a black dress. Create a black dress is probably more accurate, as these dresses are pieces of art in my opinion. The occasion? An auction to benefit the American Cancer Society and La ligue nationale contre le cancer in France this coming fall. The dresses were unveiled in France on the 27th of January and were on display on the 28th at the Palazzo Pozzo di Borgo...and they are beautiful. The September 2010 auction will held at Phillips de Pury & Co., in New York. ALL proceeds will go to American Cancer Society and La ligue nationale contre le cancer as well as the proceeds from the book "CRYSTALLIZED™ Ways To Say Black"

The designers really outdid themselves...
