THE Boston Bruins went from hard hitters to hard drinkers at the weekend, racking up an eye-watering $156,679.74 bar tab in one night of partying at a Connecticut casino, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.
The Stanley Cup champions knocked back an assortment of alcoholic beverages during Saturday's spree - including 136 Bud Lights, 35 Jagerbombs and a $100,000 bottle of ultra-exclusive Ace of Spades "Midas" champagne.
Their resulting bill, a photograph of which was printed by the newspaper, included a hefty $25,000 tip for staff at the MGM Foxwoods Casino's Shrine Nightclub.
The Bruins beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals last Wednesday night, claiming the franchise's first cup since 1972.
They marked their victory Saturday by pouring champagne from their 30-liter bottle of "Midas" - one of only six in existence - into the trophy itself, before taking turns to swill down the pricey bubbly.
The empty bottle was then autographed by the players and will be raffled off at a later date to benefit the Bruins foundation, according to The Globe.
