More than 1,000 entertainment and media professionals picked up hammers and nailguns to help build eight affordable homes in Burbank for the Hollywood for Habitat for Humanity program last week.
The event, which ran June 10-18, culminated with a Power Women, Power Tools event that drew guests including Rosario Dawson, Stacy Keibler and host Kristina Guerrero. David Arquette and "The Wire" and "Super 8" thesp Glynn Turman were among others who attended throughout the Lowe's-sponsored program.
Build site, the Keeler/Elliott Homeownership Development, will include seven new townhomes and one rehabilitated single-family home.
Org intends the new residences to help address an affordable housing crisis in Los Angeles by providing sustainable low-cost housing to eight families, many of whom carried boards and paintbrushes alongside the volunteers.
Event was part of a partnership between Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, the Burbank Redevelopment Agency and the Burbank Housing Corp. to build homes alongside qualifying low-income homeowners.
