~Cupcakes and Pepsi... Now This Is Art That Speaks To Me~

"Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one."  ~Stella Adler

Although I consider myself a fabulously cultured renaissance woman I have no problem admitting that I am not quite as educated about the art world as some of my friends and colleagues. Don't get me wrong, I love visiting museums and art galleries. It's actually a favorite activity of mine. I just don't always know who painted something just by looking at it or from what 'period" it is...I basically just know what I like. If I look at something and I'm completely in awe or it makes me think or it makes me feel...it's good artwork as far as I'm concerned. The following artists make me HAPPY. One for incorporating sweets, donuts and cupcakes, into a comic/cartoon like style. Everything I love... And the second artist for filling a pool with cola...my dream. Lol...seriously. Swimming in a pool of Pepsi sounds blissful... I know, I'm sick.

Let's talk a walk through the world of art "Glamour Whore" style...

Highly successful artist Eric Joyner is know for his vivid, wildly fun "Robots and Donuts" illustrations. He once said "When I decided to become a gallery artist I made a rule for myself that I would only paint things I like".  It worked for him, as his list of showings and awards is a mile long and as a patron who can only relate to and purchase what I like...he and I are a match made in heaven. As of late he has incorporated cupcakes into his work...I may marry this man. And buy a painting. See all of his work HERE

Now something to wash down them donuts and cupcakes with....

Photographer/Artist Mike Bouchet, who apparently started making his own cola in 2004, turned a fantasy of mine into reality via his work. He filled an entire pool with his homemade diet cola (I have no idea why he choose diet, in my fantasy its Pepsi...) and shot a series of striking photographs. These photos have been shown at countless galleries and I can see why... I love them. The only thing that is not clear to me is how he did not know that I would have been the perfect model for this project...*wink* The most recent showing of "Diet Cola Works" was at Los Angeles gallery The Box
